x chromosome

n=3

Molecular Fossils...

a: X chromosome ~
b: fossil

What: "About half of the current X chromosome is like a fossil, having remained the same through the evolution of all mammals, even the relatively primitive marsupials. Genes on the remainder of the X in placental mammals, on the other hand, were more recently acquired from other chromosomes." Common point, they both old and have not changed for a long time. They are both "preserved" as they were in the past.

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
