topoisomerase

n=2

a: Topoisomerase ~
b: several enzymes in one

What:

"Because drugs act on specific enzyme conformations, knowledge of these conformations has significant implications in drug design. "Topoisomerase is like several enzymes in one because its various conformations are so different," Dr. Wang said. "Each one is a potential drug target." Many anticancer drugs, initially recognized for their ability to kill cells, have turned out to target topoisomerases, Dr. Wang said. Among these are doxorubicin (Adriamycin), etoposide, and mitoxantrone."

a: Topoisomerase ~
b: helicase

What:

"DNA ligase is what binds the discontinuous fragments also called Okazaki fragments my friend. base-pairing is the hydrogen bonding that happens between the nucleotides of two strands; C triple bond G and A double bond T. Replication fork contains DNA Polymerase and other factors which bind to 3'-OH and starts the addition of nucleotides on the new strand. helicase is like a stone it holds the unwind two strands apart. topoisomerase is like helicase but it unwinds complex winds b4 helicase. wish I've helped. ::)"

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
