stocks
n=10
a: Stocks ~
b: cars
What: "Stocks are like cars -- some have more cachet than others even if they are unreliable at delivering returns. Studying rankings in the Fortune surveys of companies, my colleagues and I found that stocks of the more admired companies delivered lower returns than stocks of the less admired companies."

a: Stocks ~
b: stylishly-adorned coquettes
What: "The short answer is that picking quality stocks is a lot like appreciating quality women...

a: Stocks ~
b: ships on the ocean
What: "The market is like a big ocean and all the stocks are like ships on the ocean. When the ocean rises, all the ships will rise with it. When there is a tsunami, it will suck everything under water. Similarly when the market is going uptrend, many stocks will perform well. And no stock will survive when the financial tsunami strike."

a: Stocks ~
b: children
What: "He sees a stock as a part ownership of a living, breathing company. In his opinion stocks are like children and you buy them for better or for worse for life. I'm not saying that he never sells stocks simply that it is never his first option. Because of this he tends to buy stocks with high dividend values and holds on to them for as long as he can. He sees himself as a collector of profitable stocks in companies and not as just an investor."

Stocks In December As Beachwear
a: Buying stocks in december ~
b: buying a bikini in December
What: The link is to an article about buying stocks in December and how that is somewhat like buying bikinis in December. The basis for the statement is somewhat sound based on stock price history. On average, stock prices, find their low at the end of the year. This includes weak stocks as well as strong stocks. So you may not be able to use a bikini in December, but wait Spring or Summer and those December purchase may look much more useful.

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
