stock market crash
Both are build ups in anticipation of something, some future growth. Both can be emotional draining for all those involved. Both can be pretty messy if not handled correctly. During the occurrence of either, all parties involved need assurance that everything will work out for the better, which is it usually does. Financial menopause is a different matter for a different day and a different metaphor.
"A correction is not a crash as per the syllabus of stock market. Crash is like a patient admitted to ICU. Correction is like a patient treated and discharged after some stitches."
"We're not talking about a stock market crash here but something much worse. A stock market crash is like when your furnace goes out because a wind blows out the pilot light. You are in trouble, you scramble around until you figure out what the problem is, and it's relatively simple to fix. What we have here is not the pilot light going out but more like the fuel being cut off."

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
