large intestine
"Your large intestine is like a long conveyor belt. As stool moves through it, moisture is pulled out. When things are working as they should, this results in a soft, but well-formed stool arriving at the end of the intestine, ready to be evacuated. The aim of a bowel movement is not to empty the bowel, but rather to evacuate this well-formed stool."
The door represents the mouth because it opens and closes. In the mouth food is broken down into smaller pieces by teeth and emzymes.
The stomach is simaller to a ball pit because lots of small food pieces are held in the stomach.
The small intestine is simaller to Sponge Bob because the small intestine absorbs nutrience for other parts of the body just like Sponge Bob absorbs water.
A large intestine is like a clogged pipe. a cloged pipe holds solid waste just like the large intestine holds solid waste before it is eliminated. Water is absorbed in the large intestine so that the body does not become dehydrated.
"Well this is the exact principle I use for getting gas out of my large intestine. The large intestine is like a very simple maze. But gas wants to go up and this means it can stick around in some of the corners of the large intestine and folds of the intestinal wall."
"The large intestine is like the exhaust pipe in our body. Let us clean it out and see what happens."

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
