Judaism As Eternal Water
a: Judaism ~
b: River Nile
What: I saw on The Discovery Channel that Judaism is based on the religion of Egyptian pharaohs. What does this mean? It is a religion that is based on evocation of the eternal Nile, literally and figuratively. Literally, this means to call forth or call up the Nile, the river, the eternal water.

Judaism is like a Mac
a: Judaism ~
b: a Mac
What: "I went this morning for my One-on-One session, to learn more cool new features of my new laptop and MobileMe. At the end of my (awesome, fun, insert-positive-adjective-here) session, I got it: Judaism is like a Mac. Or an ipod, ipad, or whatever cool new device Apple comes out with." The linked article tries to connect the two.

Judaism Is Like Haiku
a: Judaism ~
b: Haiku
What: "With the strict limitation of a seventeen-syllable poem, the Haiku form does not strangle poets. It sparks creativity, forcing writers to find new ways of expressing complex ideas briefly yet profoundly. The boundaries are part of the poet's art. Similarly, the halakhic boundaries should be a part of the religious artist's creations, forcing him to find original ways to express his thoughts."

Judaism is like the earth
a: Judaism ~
b: the earth
What: "In this light, we can understand a puzzling statement by the Gaon of Vilna, the great 18th century sage. The Gaon said that the other religions are like the heavens; Judaism is like the earth."

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
