inbreeding

n=2

a: Inbreeding ~
b: opening the closet door

What:

"Inbreeding brings it all out, outcrossing does not. Outcrossing gives you multiple "hidden genes", some good, some very bad. Eventually those hidden genes are going to come out, but you don't know when, or in what way, or how many animals will be or are affected. Inbreeding is like opening the closet door and letting those skeletons out. You inbreeding, and it brings them out, now you can see them, now you know what you have, now you know where it came from, and you can take some action to eliminate it."

a: inbreeding ~
b: dark color to clear water

What:

"They have been inbreeding for centuries and still are, whether permitted by law or not. This inbreeding is like adding a dark color to clear water. Billions of gallons will be required before the water is again perfectly clear, if it ever will be."

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
