What: This is an interview with Mike Batzle. He is a Professor at the Colorado School of Mines. He liken the intellectual environment around geophysics as being in a candy store. In that, there is so much interesting stuff to study it's difficult to say no to many of the projects that he can work on.

What: "Geophysics is like astronomy in some respects: both face the challenge of remote sensing. Although the interior of the Earth is only a few thousand kilometers beneath our feet, as compared to the many trillions of kilometers separating us from even the nearest stars, the Earth's core can not be directly sampled in any way, and the difficulty is to extract information in some indirect fashion."
