What: "I like to think about entropy in terms of a party that has escalated from a casual get-together to an oh-my-god-the-cops-are-here sort of rager. Early in the evening the shindig is going smoothly. People are having a good time, maybe drinking a little bit but not getting too wild. As the night goes on folks start boozing it up a little more and before you know it a lamp gets knocked over and there's some dude standing on the kitchen table belting out a slurred rendition of Guns N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle.""

Highly Ordered Garbage Is Possible

What: "Entropy is like garbage, my friends. My favorite engineering professor said this in one lecture. Think about it, if a company is out of equilibrium and tends towards less equilibrium, what results truly is garbage. The human physics, the interactions between co-workers, will be chaotic, confused and, possiblydetrimental to the operation of the company. All those personalities bouncing off of each other, causing equal and opposite reactions!"

What: "I'm not a mathematician or a physicist, but I love those disciplines for a myriad of reasons. I'm going to take a moment to explain one of my favorite concepts in physics called entropy, but I'm going slightly oversimplify. Entropy is like a measurement of chaos, or a way that we can quantify disorder. However, what appears to be chaos or disorder is a process that energy goes through as a way to find order. During this process, issues are identified and repaired, there is adaptation, selection, and spontaneity; but the goal is balance."
