emotional resilience

a: Emotional resilience ~
b: wet sponge

What:

Resilience is the ability to take a hit and resile back to previous form. You squeeze a sponge, let go, it resiles back to its previous shape but the sponge isn't any stronger. Mental toughness is your ability to bounce back stronger than your previous state. You don't succumb to pressure, instead you deliver a better performance while under pressure.

a: emotional resilience ~
b: building muscels

What:

"For many of us our proudest achievements come in the face of greatest adversity. Our pain makes us stronger, more resilient, more grounded. Just as one must suffer from physical pain to build muscle, one must suffer emotional pain to develop greater emotional resilience, stronger sense of self, increased compassion and a generally happier life."

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
