The Bending Path.....

a: Diffraction ~
b: a person is sking down a snowy hill

What: This is a good analogy because when a person is sking down a snowy hill, the skier has to direct him or herself away from the trees, and with diffraction the waves direct themself away from the obstical like when a person is dodging trees. Its a bad example because when your ski down a hill you never spread out like what diffraction does.

Some German Stuff

a: Diffraction ~
b: reflection

What: "Diffraction is like reflection an optical metaphor. Yet, in contrast to reflection, diffraction neither refers to the metaphor of the mirror nor does it go along with the model of original and copy. Diffraction is about a heterogeneous history and about the resentfulness and binding chraracter of events, which have always already happened elsewhere." What does mean?

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
