a: Dehydration ~
b: hunger

What:

"Your memory can be affected both by dehydration and your ability to think obviously so ensure that you have at least eight glasses of water every day. Dehydration is like hunger in that while you are focusing on being dehydrated, you are not concentrating on the thing available that you are seeking to recall or dedicate to memory."

a: Dehydration ~
b: frostbite

What:

"Dehydration is like frostbite, by the time you realize you're suffering from it, it's too late to prevent it. Better to plan ahead and avoid the problem. If you find yourself completely without a source of fluids, then you are a dead man."

a: Dehydration ~
b: putting live lobster in cool water

What:

"Chronic dehydration is like putting that live lobster into a pot of cool water as it sits on the stove. If you then turn on the stove burner and slowly raise the water temperature to boiling, the lobster doesn't even realize it is being cooked. In the same way, if everyday your water intake is slightly less than needed, your body will not react swiftly, nor dramatically."

a: dehydration synthesis ~
b: condensation reaction

What:

It's a type of condensation reaction in which a water molecule is produced by the reaction between 2 organic molecules. Maybe it's sorta like water falling from the sky, rain. Rain is a condensation of liquid water from water vapor. Of course the precipitation of water in a rain storm is physical phase change not a chemical reaction, but zillions of rain drop falling from the sky may help with visualizing this type of chemical reaction.

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
