cold battery
"A cold battery is like a dead battery. The voltage drops and the engine will not start when that happens. The electrolysis reaction inside the cell is proportional to temperature. The colder it gets the less potential there is across each cell.
Warming the battery (to pre-frozen temp) will increase the reaction and raise the voltage. So if the battery is dead in the morning, you can either warm it up or jump start the car."
"A car starting with a really really cold battery is like trying to get out of bed with a broken leg"
METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
