It All In The Arrrrrrrs

a: Australian vowel ~
b: Boston accent

What: "one of the most obvious things I've noticed about Australian singers who sound American (to me) is the long 'a' vowel - in most American regional accents this sounds to Australians as though it has an audible R sound at the end of it - 'carrr parrrk' - whereas in an Australian accent that vowel is like a Boston accent only more so. There are other things as well, of course."

METAMIA is a free database of analogy and metaphor. Anyone can contribute or search. The subject matter can be anything. Science is popular, but poetry is encouraged. The goal is to integrate our fluid muses with the stark literalism of a relational database. Metamia is like a girdle for your muses, a cognitive girdle.
