There is a commonality in terms of energy conversion. Windmills convert wind energy into mechanical energy. The energy generated is used to do something useful like turn an electrical generator or run a water pump. Motor proteins do something like this in that they take the chemical energy from ATP and convert it into the mechanical motion of muscle proteins such as myosin.
