What: There are many comparison between LA and other cities in the US. I don't understand the comparison with Detroit; I've never been to Michigan. But I grew up in LA and over time there have been several trips to Chicago. These 2 cities are some what comparable. Both are vast sprawling cities surrounded by vast sprawling suburbs. They both have a huge ethnically diverse population. And, maybe most importantly, they both site next to a vast body of water. LA has the Pacific Ocean while Chicago has Lake Michigan.
