What: Beware of organizations or people that over rely on this type of personality test. It may indicate that the management has so little competence in dealing with other people that they need a cognitive crutch to manage. Or, on a more darker note, I noticed some managers use the categories of this personality test to play games with their reports. It goes something like this; determine the persons cognitive style and confound them by giving them tasks and situations where they will not fit in. It's a very passive aggressive way of creating disorder and at the same time looking like a rational and capable manager. At its worst, it is a very methodical way of degrading people mentally. On the Briggs-Myers site it mentions that this test should not be used to access peoples type and pressure them into unwanted behavior. The fact that this is mentioned indicates that, in the wrong hands, of which there are many, the information derived from the test is open to abuse.
