Grap And Hold....
a: Edta ~
b: 4 finger molecular claw
What: EDTA is a molecule that can chelate metals. The claw is made up of 4 carboxylic acid groups, each of which resembles a single molecule of acetic acid. Each molecule has a negative charge. Together they can bind to positively charged metals. When this binding occurs, the metal, is much more soluble that it would be without the chelation process. This is how this would work in a pure solution, that is, in test tubes, sitting in a lab bench. How it works in a clinical setting is not clear, at least to this writer.
