Many Little Muscles Twitching Away

a: Sarcomere ~
b: a microscopic muscle

What: "Trigger points, more commonly known as muscle knots, are a patch of super-contracted muscle "sarcomeres." Muscles are made of millions of sarcomeres. A sarcomere is like a microscopic muscle: a little bundle of protein fibres that contracts. When a small section of sarcomeres goes into spasm, that's a trigger point."
