Like Looking At Stars Through A Grid...

a: Dna microarray ~
b: chess board with a 10,000,000 squares

What: Yes Indeed. Each square on this chess board can detect the presence or activation of a single gene or series of genes. There is so much information on a single chip that the only way to interpret it is to use computer technology. This is somewhat similar to what astronomers do when when they look at the stars. There are millions and millions and millions of stars and one way to make sense of the pattern is to employ very sophisticated image analysis techniques.
