a: voltage ~
b: water pressure

So if voltage is like water pressure, it can be related to the height of a stream or pipe that contains water. Water pushes down on itself. Think about diving in the ocean or a deep pool, the deeper the dive the higher the water pressure, the more your ears begin to tingle.

Any how, this water and it's pressure it not static, it will move via gravity. The rate of water movement is analogous to the current.
