The Ancient Time

a: The odometer ~
b: a wheel mounted on a wheelbarrow

What: "The Roman architect and engineer, Vitruvius, invented the first odometer in history. The odometer is like a wheel mounted on a wheelbarrow and when pushed along the ground by hand it automatically dropped a pebble into a container at each revolution, giving a measure of the distance it travelled. It is now essential in cars today, measuring the distance the vehicle travels."
