Sutton Hoo Purse

a: Sutton hoo purse ~
b: Anglo-Saxon iphone

What: The Ancient Anglo-Saxons were a people on the move. Thus their art had to be small and portable. The Sutton Hoo purse is the premier example of this art form. It is a small, portable and beautifully crafted status symbol made in ~ 625 AD. Fast forward about 1400 years and you'll find not much has changed. The iphone has similar attributes. It's a colorful, well designed, highly practical status symbol that's much in vogue in our own whacked out expansionist Anglo-Saxon culture.
