What:

In relation to time, stabilizing selection is a situation in which a phenotype changes very slowly. This is somewhat like the Tortoise in the fable. Slow and steady change tend to produce beneficial outcomes or at least non disruptive change. Disruptive selection would be akin to the Hare in this scenario.
