a: selling a company ~
b: junking a car

What:

The parts are often worth more than the whole. For a car, you sell the innards, the engine and transmission and all the parts that are worth something. The passenger space can be stripped of the dash board and the seats. The tires, wheels and brakes, if in good shape, are also worth selling. The rest can be put in a crusher, and melted down to recover the metal and shipped to China to make lawn furniture or whatever.
