What: "As we've seen with Gleevec, silencing a gene is not as simple as turning a light switch on and off. Gene expression is like a string of Christmas lights that flicker periodically. Breaking a bulb can potentially affect a neighboring bulb. In order to break a bulb that's lit, we have to completely master patterns of expression. To put it simply: we're just not there yet - and we probably won't be for a long time."
