What: It is a pronoun that refers to inanimate objects. It is a universal in that it can be used to refer to any object. Dude has become a universal pronoun for human beings. For example, all are now grammatically correct: I am dude, you are dude, he is dude, we are dude, they are dude, she is dude and perhaps dude looks like a lady.
