What: Alphabet soup is an okay association for amino acids in your body. There are about 20, depending on how you count. The individual letters in this soup, can can be joined together to build structural proteins such as collagen. The protein have a "spelling" if you like. In that there are particular sequences that build specific proteins like there are specific letters that used to make specific words with specific meanings. But the amino acid can also be for energy production. It depends on the physiological state of the organism and cell in question.
