All Sorts Of Associations......

a: Activation energy ~
b: a hill a barrier, a wall an inpediment

What: The link is to a book about using analogy in science education. They discuss the limits of using this type of method. One problem is the student's free associating and coming up with their own conceptualization of the subject matter. While this is good for poetry and many other things, it not good for science topics. This subject matter is understood and well defined. So in the context of teaching and learning science, there are bad analogies, good analogies and then really good analogies.
